Blender addons and tools for Second Life clothing creators

Next to the courses, SL Designers builds the tools its own students asked for: two Blender addons and a material HUD. All of them are sold in Second Life and tied to your avatar, like the courses.

GALA - a Blender addon for clothing creators

GALA puts the repetitive, technical end of clothing work into one panel in Blender's sidebar:

Fit - refit a garment from the body it is worn on.
Rig - build the rig and the weights automatically, then correct by hand where you want to.
Export - write the Collada (.dae) file Second Life expects.

GALA needs Blender 5.2 or newer. It is licensed by time (1 week, 3 months, 6 months or 1 year), on one computer per licence. You sign in from Blender through your browser - nothing to type, no serial number to keep.

Fur Blender Addon

A Blender addon for making fur for clothing. It comes together with the Fur Course, and is also sold on its own.

SL Designers Material HUD

A full texture changer system for the products you sell in Second Life: your customers change colours and textures from a HUD. It supports PBR and Blinn-Phong materials and switches between them. See the Material HUD on the Second Life Marketplace.

How to get them

Buy the box in Second Life, at the SL Designers store.
Wear the box and touch it once, then link your avatar to the website with the HUD that comes out of it (once only).
Log in with Discord on www.sldesigners.com, open GALA there, accept the licence agreement and download.

What is GALA?

GALA is a Blender addon by SL Designers for people who make clothing for Second Life. It brings tools for fitting a garment to a body, for rigging and weights, and for exporting to Second Life into one panel in Blender.

Which Blender version does GALA need?

Blender 5.2 or newer.

How is GALA licensed?

By time: 1 week, 3 months, 6 months or 1 year. You buy a box in Second Life, and opening another box later adds its time after your current end date. One licence works on one computer; support can move it to another.

How do I install and sign in?

Download the zip from www.sldesigners.com after logging in with Discord, install it in Blender under Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Install from Disk, then press the sign-in button in the GALA panel. Your browser opens, you confirm the code, and GALA unlocks. There is no password or serial number to type.

Where do I get the Fur Blender Addon?

It comes together with the Fur Course, and is also sold on its own, in the SL Designers store in Second Life.

What does the Material HUD do?

The SL Designers Material HUD is a texture changer system for Second Life products: your customers pick colours and textures from a HUD. It works with both PBR and Blinn-Phong materials and can switch between them.
